Life of a Yogi Artist

Advanced Somatic Healing Specialist

Carrie Beisel, M.Ed.

Somatic Educator, Yoga Therapist, and Multidisciplinary Artist

Carrie is a pioneering somatic educator, artist, and yoga therapist with a 36-year legacy of lived mastery in the healing arts. Rooted deeply in the 8 limbs of yoga since 1990, her journey into holistic wellness began during her early tenure as an entrepreneurial Aveda salon owner, sparking a decades-long integration of energy medicine, movement, and creative expression.

As an original faculty member and instructor in the foundational Arizona holistic community, Carrie taught energy anatomy and somatic bodywork during the formative, pre-incorporation era of the regional movement. Her extensive training spans deep historical lineages, including advanced Yoga Therapy in the late 1990s, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT), and comprehensive Polarity Therapy.

Bridging the worlds of healing and art, holding a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Art with 18 years of public and institutional art teaching experience.

Today, she channels her rich background into her private practice, digital educational resources, and specialized somatic workshops—empowering others to discover the profound poetry in movement, jewelry design, and creative self-actualization.

Thanoayoga

Thanayoga (often searched as thanatoyoga) is a specialized form of Yoga Therapy designed to support individuals processing grief, loss, and human mortality. Developed by American thanatologist Cole Imperi, it fuses the academic study of death and dying (thanatology) with intentional physical movement, breathwork, and meditation.

NOTE: Yoga is Not a Religion: Yoga Embraces All Religions.

YOGA is my practice; it DOES NOT have to be yours for End-of Life Care or the Somatic Companion Care.

What is a Death Doula

A death doula, or end-of-life doula, is a trained, non-medical companion who provides holistic emotional, physical, and practical support to a dying person and their family. They work alongside medical and hospice teams to ensure comfort, dignity, and a peaceful transition.

Why the Concept Feels Foreign

  • Institutionalized Dying: For decades, the U.S. healthcare system has treated death as a medical failure rather than a natural life stage. Over 70% of Americans state they want to die at home, yet the vast majority pass away in hospitals or long-term care facilities surrounded by machines rather than community-led support.

  • Lack of State Regulation: Unlike medical professions, death doulas do not hold state licenses or standardized government certifications. Because the field is self-regulated through independent organizations, it operates outside the traditional insurance and healthcare framework, keeping it out of mainstream awareness

Cultural Shifts Overcoming the Stigma

Despite:

  • The "Death Positive" Movement: A growing cultural shift is encouraging Americans to confront mortality openly, plan their medical interventions early, and reclaim control over the dying process.
  • The Baby Boomer Aging Wave: As a massive generation enters its later years, there is a strong pushback against institutionalized aging. People are demanding highly customized, personal agency in how they spend their final days.

In-Person Companion Care or End of Life Transitions

Welcome to a unified sanctuary for transition, healing, and creative reclamation.

Intensive somatic grounding sessions focused purely on acute terminal anxiety, dedicated bedside vigilance during the final days, an immediate family counseling session to ease grief, and professional coordination with the hospice or estate team.

True healing requires moving beyond analytical stress and dropping the physical armor of the nervous system.

By blending gentle somatic movement, grounding breathwork, and the tactile medicine of textured canvas painting, my private practice helps you process deep emotional shifts, honor major life endings, and step onto 100% clean ground.
